Our summer trip to the Dolomites. We've got two weeks planned for the trip although will be asking those interested to indicate which week they would prefer to go (or both weeks).
We will be staying in Cortina at a campsite we've used before and has all the facilities we need and costs around £10 a night per head. If you're going for the full two weeks then you may want to drive to Cortina. If you're going for a week only then you'll probably want to fly. The closest are the Venice airports, which are under 2 hours drive from Cortina. The best cost I got was about £170 return from Venice Marco Polo airport from Gatwick(excluding paying for 1 bag). Alternatively we could fly to Milan Malpensa - best cost I got was £117 (excluding paying for 1 bag) from Stansted. These costs are for the 1st week Saturday to Saturday, if we go in the 2nd week it is a lot cheaper; Stansted to Venice Treviso is £71 and East Midlands to Milan Bergamo is £168 (Transfer time 4 hours 30 mins). Let us know which week you want to do and then we can select the best week and get the flights sorted before the costs go up too much. We will need to hire a car if we fly, should be reasonable if we can stuff 3+ people in each car we need.
2nd week for me as well, in Dolomites... Also the weekend before I am hoping to make the most of a VERY sunny bank holiday weekend for a big UK climbing adventure, maybe in Pembroke or North Devon/Cornwall. But definitely by the SEA! Probably heading down a few days early to avoid traffic jams! Contact me directly if you fancy organising something definite. There will probably be a Bowline trip anyway so might even hook up with that, if there is a beach involved!
To those that are going on this trip. I am only able to go on the second week. Direct flights from East Midlands - Venice Treviso 2nd - 9th Sept are currently coming in at approx £170.00 with 20K of cabin and 5K of hold luggage, 1st - 8th are NOT direct. This to me is a great price. East mids is in-expensive to travel to (unlike the London airports) and flying to Venice means a 2 hour transfer (Milan is 4 hours) it's a no brainer to me but I can't go it alone so is there anyone else willing to commit? My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org tel no: 07855849528 I am more than happy to discuss any of the above to get things moving on this x much love.
