Rope Skills BBQ

Wednesday, 8th July 2015 at 6:30pm

Location: Simon and Alex's home, Oadby

This event is in the past.

The idea of the rope skills BBQ is to give an opportunity for new climbers to learn new skills and seasoned climbers to hone them - and to enjoy a summer evening BBQ.

For the newbies: experienced climbers will be there to show you the basics from setting up an abseil, taking coils, learn different techniques for building belays and much more.

Experienced climbers: bring a challenge to test your mates - either to see if they can do it, or how fast they can do it. Abseiling past a knot, escaping the system, crevasse rescue. Personally I expect there are many skills that I don't even know that I don't know. If we all bring a challenge, we'll learn from each other and it's good practice.

No professionals will be available, this is member-to-member learning only.

The BBQ will be at Simon and Alex's home in Oadby. Bring some BBQ food, something to drink, a harness, krabs, prussiks, belay device, rope, etc. Starts at 18:30 but turn up whenever you like.

Please RSVP to Simon via email if you can make it (simon.a.perry@gmail.com).

For those that do not know Simon and Alex's address, it will distributed to those who are coming nearer the time.
